Prima che io descriva le molte scuole che ho visitate, e riferisca i discorsi che ho uditi sul la voro manuale, credo necessario premettere alcune considerazioni generali. È opportuno intendersi chiaramente sul significato delle parole lavoro ma nuale, e sulla vera natura del problema pedagogico che, tanto e da tanti si discute. Molte cose affatto diverse furono tra loro confuse, e ne seguirono molti malintesi, che è bene dissipare.
